The Project

GliFoS is Los Angeles meets the Inland Empire music project based in Pomona CA. The Project was started with an exploration of afrofunk, Afrobeat, Latin, Soul and from a stupendous blend of scintillating highlife, smoking Fela and spaced-out, funkdafied Black Jazz, from 1970’s. To avoid argument or disagreement GliFoS decided to keep an open mind and went with Vodou funk as a genre. Since vodou (voodoo) is a ritualistic faith system that involves ceremonies that consist of singing, drumming community and dancing, GliFoS felt the project related the same musically, spiritually, and brotherly to bring the audience a unique feel and sound of funk.

The Name

a glyph /ˈɡlɪf/ is an elemental symbol within an agreed set of symbols, intended to represent a readable character for the purposes of writing. As such, glifos are considered to be unique marks that collectively add up to the spelling of a word, or otherwise contribute to a specific meaning of what is written, with that meaning dependent on cultural and social usage.
